‘On Friday morning, Mr Tait came to me with a rather shocking discovery. First, we saw that someone had done this to our Kindergarten sign.’ Principal Howe shook her head and clicked the remote once more, changing the photo. ‘And then, on Friday afternoon, two more incidents of graffiti were discovered on school property.’

Amelia held her hand to her mouth as she stared at the next photo on the big screen. It was of the brand-new adventure equipment in the playground. There were dark, scribbly lines all the way down the slide. Amelia’s mind flashed back to the marker pen Harry had left behind on the school oval the other day.

Principal Howe sighed and pressed the button again. Another image flashed up. It was a door in the girls’ toilets with another scribble and frowny face. Everyone in the hall gasped. This was serious.

‘Now, we don’t know who the culprit is, but we will find out. And in the meantime, if we see ONE more piece of graffiti, Gelato Day will be CANCELLED.’

The hall erupted into worried chatter.

Amelia felt a flash of anger – someone was trying to ruin Gelato Day! All of a sudden, she felt extremely peculiar. And then … a chill pulsed through her body – she was freezing.

Oh no! Not now!
